Clan MacKenzie and the Jacobite Risings – Andrew McKenzie – 2011
Out of stock
Jacobite was the name given to a supporter of James VII of Scotland (II of England) and his heirs. James’s reign was short lived. Threatened by his Roman Catholicism, the birth of a Catholic heir in 1688 was the final straw for the English elite who invited James’s Protestant daughter Mary and her husband, William of Orange to assume the throne. James panicked and fled to France – this presented the Mackenzie family who had benefited from James’s patronage with a serious dilemma.
