Always a “must do” event in the Highland Games season is the M&M weekend of Maxville and Montreal.
As many know the Glengarry Highland Games is a staple of the games circuit, now entering its 7th decade!
As the home of the North American Pipe Band Championships, it always draws a large crowd. And with Heavy Athletics, the Regimental Tug-of-War, the Clan Parade, and Highland Dancing just to name a few, there is something for everyone.
As always we were situated in the Clan Buildings, right in the middle of the McLellans and the McLennans (that was confusing!) and had a fairly steady stream of visitors once the days events got underway.
Without our usual big blue tent, a few had difficulty finding us, but most agreed the extra light was welcome in the booth. We were pleased to welcome four new members this year, and even managed to secure fairly good representation for the always popular Clan Parade at noon. Maxville is always a very run games, and this year was no exception. The weather was quite nice, with only two short lived rain showers. As we packed up for the day, QC Commissioner Ken MacKenzie dropped by to pick up a few things, as he and our VP Gary MacKenzie were off to represent the Clan in Montreal the next day. Stay tuned for an update on the Montreal games next.
